TONICA NEWS, Tonica, La Salle County, Illinois, May 17, 1879:
Died, at Lowell, Ill., May 4, 1879, at the home of her son William, Mrs. J. Gregory. Deceased, as Araminta Allum, was born 1805 in Washington county, Penn.; married to John Gregory in 1822; soon after removed to Green county, Penn., where she resided till 1863, when she came with her family to La Salle county, Ill., where she spent her remaining days. She embraced religion early in life, and with her husband united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church. After she came here she joined the Methodist Protestant church in which she remained until she joined the church triumphant above. Mrs. Gregory had eleven children, three of whom survive her. Her last distressing illness she bore with great patience, expressing her readiness to depart. A good mother has gone to her reward. May her exemplary life be a pattern to others. --AMELIA, Lowell, Ill., May 15, 1879.
