Mary Lilla Brown Haymore was born July 1, 1921 to Rush Ayers and Isabell Brown and passed away January 10, 2015. Lilla's mother died giving birth and she was raised by her grandparents on a tobacco farm (adopted). At the age of 16 Lilla and her cousin left the farm and moved to Washington DC. They went to work at the Pentagon as mail room clerks. Lilla was the head mail room clerk during World War II. After leaving her job at the Pentagon, Lilla came back to Mt. Airy NC, where she went to nursing school. Attended James Madison College for two years. Graduated from Mt Airy Hospital in 1949 with a Nursing Degree. There she met and married Wayne Franklin Haymore Sr. She had twins that were stillborn. Later gave birth to Wayne Franklin Haymore Jr and Donald Ray Haymore. Through the years, Lilla worked as a Registered Nurse at Forsyth Hospital, Baptist Hospital, Stokes Hospital and Surry Hospital. Lilla was a hard worker and raised her two sons by herself. She loved her sons dearly.
Lilla is survived by her son Donald (Donnie) Ray Haymore. Step-son Dennis Haymore . Step-daughter Jerri Haymore. Cousin Virginia Quilin.

There will be a visitation at Frank Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel on Friday, January 16th from 6 – 8 P.M. Graveside services will be held Saturday January 17th at 11:00 A.M. at Forsyth Memorial park.
