Merlin Q. Hansel - Manchester, Ia. - Special: Merlin Quillen Hansel 30, a farmer all of his life, and the father of three young children, died at his farm home near Dyersville Wednesday (March 3, 1945) after a brief illness. Mr. Hansel was preparing to move his family to a farm near Dundee when overtaken by illness.
The body was brought to the Platt Funeral home here, where friends may call prior to the funeral, which will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at St. John's Evangelical church, Garber, in charge of the Rev. S. E. Birkner. Burial will be made in Mt. Harmony cemetery near Garber.
The Son of George and Bertha Feidt Hansel, he was born on a farm near Garber Sept. 17, 1914. He attended the schools there, and was married Sept. 7, 1939 to Miss Luva Kulper of Garber.
He is survived by the widow; children, Gary, Veronica, and Royce his mother Mrs. Bertha Hansel, Garber, three sisters, Mrs. Verni O'Connor, Dyersville; Mrs. Russell Brown, Colesburg, Ia., and Mrs. Anton Smith, Garber; and one brother Russell Hansel, of Menasha, Wis., He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Louis who was killed a few years ago in a tractor accident and one in infancy.
