Born in Allentown, Allen was the son of the late John and Jennie (Long) Romig.

He was the husband of the late Mabel S. (Meck) Romig, who died in 2007.

A printer and graphic artist, his first venture was starting the print shop at Caloric Corporation in Topton. He later worked at Lehigh Litho in Bethlehem and also farmed in Longswamp Township.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mertztown.

He was instrumental in the merger of two Mertztown Lutheran congregations into what is now St. Paul's, where he was a former council president and Sunday School Superintendent.

He served on The Lutheran Home Board of Directors and was property committee overseer for its Luther Meadows project. He was a former president of Longswamp Republican Club, was a charter member of Longswamp Lions Club, served as Longswamp Township Supervisor and on the Brandywine School Board.

An accomplished cornetist, he played in many area bands and orchestras as a young man.

Allen and Mabel learned much in their travels throughout the world.

formerly of Longsdale Drive, Mertztown, died Friday.

Allen is survived by a son Timothy A. and his wife, Carol, of Wyomissing; daughter Phyllis J., wife of Karl K. Fenstermacher, of Mertztown; 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Lee Bond of Breinigsville.

He was predeceased by a grandson and 5 siblings.

Services at St. Paul's Church, 50 Luther Drive, Mertztown.

Interment in Longswamp Union Cemetery.
