Born Feb. 7, 1936, in Washington Township, York County, he was son of the late Edward O. and Clara L. Ortmyer. He was the widower of the late Shirley E. Henry Bentz.
Mr. Bentz was a retired auto mechanic. He most recently was working as the cemetery caretaker for Dillsburg Cemetery Association, Barrens Salem Union Cemetery Association and Franklin Cemetery Association.
He was a member of Barrens United Lutheran Church in Dillsburg. Mr. Bentz was a member of the Dillsburg, Boiling Springs and Carlisle VFWs; William's Grove Historical Steam Engine Association and the Latimore Valley Fair Ground Association.
He is survived by a son, Richard G. Bentz of Dillsburg; two daughters, Marcia B. Veno of Camp Hill and Marlene S. Badger of Dillsburg; two sisters, Thelma Leathery of Dillsburg and Mary Starner of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cocklin Funeral Home Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg, with the Rev. Paul Albert officiating. Burial will be in the Dillsburg Cemetery.
