Visiting will be at the Paul Ippolito - Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave, Caldwell on Sunday, Jan. 11th from 2 to 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 12th at 10 am in Notre Dame Church, 359 Central Ave, West Caldwell followed by the interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
Andy was born in Glen Ridge and was a lifelong resident of Caldwell and West Caldwell. He was a teacher at James Caldwell High School where he was the Head Football Coach for over 24 years having several undefeated seasons and being named Star Ledger “Coach of the Year” in 1981. He was also the James Caldwell High School Head Golf Coach. Andy was inducted into the James Caldwell High School and the Montclair State University Hall of Fame. After retirement Andy went on to volunteer as a football coach for James Caldwell High School, Clifton High School and Orange High School. He was the owner of the Avenue Bistro Pub in Verona and previously the Fieldhouse/Huddle Inn in Fairfield.
Andy was an exceptional and inspiring public speaker, touching so many throughout his life.
Beloved husband for 51 years of Anne (nee Luther) Durborow ; loving father of Andrew Durborow and Janine Durborow; loving brother of Bill Durborow and his wife Eileen also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father Howard and his mother Helen Durborow who was the first councilwoman of Caldwell.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the West Essex First Aid Squad.
