Harrisburg Telegraph (Harrisburg, PA), 23 Apr 1926 (Fri), page 1
Captain Charles P. Meck, formerly prominent in the affairs of the National Guard and for many years librarian in the editorial rooms of the Harrisburg Telegraph, died shortly after noon to-day at his home, 26 North Fifth street, after a long illness.
Captain Meck was at one time commander of the Governor's Troop, and for a long time was first lieutenant of that organization when the late Captain Frederick M. Ott was at its head. He was president of the Citizen Fire Company for thirty-five years, and up to the time of his death.
Captain Meck had been employed by the Telegraph first as printer, then as foreman of the composing room, then as State editor, and finally as librarian. A few years ago his sight failed him and he was compelled to give up work, but he was always a loyal member of the Telegraph Family, and when he was no longer able to come to the office for his weekly salary envelope loyal friends in the Telegraph Family took it to him. Always, even to the last, he was hopeful that "some day" his health might improve enough to come back to the work he so dearly loved. His host of friends in the Telegraph Family sincerely mourn his death. They feel that they have lost a loyal and affectionate comrade.
