Some of this is biography has a bit of conjecture but it is based in fact from Vital Records:

Here are the details:
Dr. Peter Harnett married Maria Louisa DeWolf on January 19, 1849 in Trumbull County, Ohio where she was born and raised. She was 33 and he was 26.

In the 1850 census (enumerated 19 Nov 1850), they are recorded as living in Delaware township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania with one-year-old Polly. Peter states in various census records over the coming years that he was born in Pennsylvania, so they may have come to that area because he was familiar with it.

When Maria died there in 1857, it's very possible that Peter took her 'home' to be buried near her parents. And therefore, when their son, James died in 1864 at just 8 years old, again, it's possible to surmise that Peter took his son to Ohio to be buried with his mother.

The 1860 census (enumerated 17 Jul 1860), shows that Peter's children with Maria were: Polly 11, Susan 8, Louisa 6 and James 4.
