William was listed as a 65 year-old resident of the county farm as of the 1870 census. Reinterred at Lenox Union cemetery in 1991 due to the expansion of U.S. 67.

"William Sterling, an inmate of the county farm house, fell and broke his thigh, last Sunday. He is over seventy years of age."

NOTE - I did not add the family links listed here, nor do I know who caused them to be added, nor do I know if they are accurate. It is also possible that these unknown individuals caused William's full name, date of birth, and place of birth to also be changed without my knowledge or consent (a now-common occurrence on Find A Grave by well-meaning "moderators" who simply do as requested by third parties). My original research into the alms house cemetery is currently unavailable, as it is stored on a damaged hard drive. Those records included original records of the alms house, area funeral homes, death certificates, and a few newspaper obituaries. Time permitting, I will revisit this issue. In the meantime, use this information at your own risk!

There were 6 William Sterlings living in Warren county as of the 1850 census, one of whom was shown born about 1805, and another about 1819. The 1860 census also shows a William Sterling born about 1803 as residing in Berwick, which seems consistent with the 1870 census, mentioned above. It appears this memorial has been tampered with by an unknown third party.
