GEORGE E. BAKER

The death of George E. Baker, a former well-known resident of Shortsville, occurred at the Memorial hospital in Canandaigua, his resident city, on Saturday, following a long illness that culminated in a stroke of paralysis. His age was 70 years.

Mr. Baker was for many years a resident of Shortsville, and found employment in the factory of the Empire Drill Company. He also served as janitor of the Shortsville Public Schools, and at the time the village used ....... lamps for lighting the streets, he served as lamp lighter for a number of years.

He leaves his wife, two sons, Henry Baker, of Shortsville, and Nathan Baker, of East Rochester; a brother, Joseph Baker, of Kansas; two sisters, Mrs. Daniel Mumpton, of Rome, N.Y., ans Mrs. George Markell, of Oneida, and two grandchildren, Miss Marion and Master Merle Baker, of Shortsville.

The funeral obsequies were held at his late home in Chapin street, Canandaigua, on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The remains were laid at rest in Brookside cemetery in Shortsville.
