He was precedent in death by his beloved sister, Ramona Sauter and parents Henry and Hattie.
He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict and managed several grocery stores for Delchamps prior to owning his own convenience stores.
He is survived by his two nephews, and longtime friends. He was a member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church.
A Graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, January 13, 2015, 10 am at Pine Crest Cemetery.
