There are several sources with differing dates of birth. She was Christened into the Church of England in Marden Parish.

She was the person that signed as being present at the death of her father, John Thomas Powell.

She was married to Samuel Bonner Kersey in the District Church after banns, Certificate of Registration District West Bromich, Stafford, MA 369248. And moved to West Bromwich by 1855 when she married.

In 1868 Jane's husband Samuel Bonner Kersey died at the Queens Hospital, Bath Row, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England of Brights disease.

October 22, 1873 the family sailed on the ship "Idaho" sailing from Liverpool, England, then on to Salt Lake City by train. Record #1041. They came with the help of the Perpetual Immigration Fund.

August 13, 1876, her son John Thomas Kersey died at the age of 16 years in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery plot K_12_12_3W. No headstone.

She married Samuel Worthington 8th of January 1880, but no verification has been found.

On the 1880 U.S. Census Jane's sons, Samuel and James were listed with the last name of Worthington with Samuel Worthington, their step father in Salt Lake City. We have been unable to find Jane and her daughters on the 1880 census.

Evidently he taught his step sons the dairy business and they helped him out with the work. Then Jane's husband, Samuel Worthington died 26th of April 1884 and was buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Note on the back of an old family group record "Jane Powell and (her mother) Martha Thomas was Endowed 29 September 1897 and sealed same day."

1900 U.S. Census, her birth date shows Nov 1831. She is in the home of her son, Samuel and she is listed as a widow.
