Clarence Joseph Kirchner, Jr., age 86, of St. Patrick, MO, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Lewis Co. Nursing Home in Canton, MO.

Clarence was born May 7, 1928 at St. Patrick, MO, a son of Clarence Joseph and Nellie Ryan Kirchner.

He was united in marriage to Nancy L. Collins on October 18, 1949 at the Shrine of St. Patrick, MO.

Survivors include four sons: Clinton (Dixie) Kirchner of Kahoka, MO, Curtis (Jenny) Kirchner of Eldon, MO, Clifford (Lisa) Kirchner of Springdale, AR and Craig (Janis) Kirchner of Buford, GA; four daughters: Marica (Edd) Hardin of Canton, MO, Myrna (Danny) Daughtry of Maltoon, IL, Carol (Kevin) Hinkebein of O’Fallon, MO and Judy Kirchner of Baldwinsville, NY; fifteen grandchildren: Leslie Hardin of Edgerton, KS, Matt (Michelle) Kirchner of Kahoka, MO, Audrey (Monty) Bringer of Maywood, MO, Sam Daughtry of Los Angeles, CA, Steve (Kristen) Daughtry of St. Patrick, MO, Christina Kirchner of Eldon, MO, Curtis (Christina) Kirchner of Troy, MO, Jessie (Nathan) Sparks of Canton, MO, Mary and John Kirchner of Springdale, MO, Nicholas, Emily, and Catherine Hinkebein of O’Fallon, MO, and Natalie and C. J. Kirchner of Buford, GA; five great grandchildren: Tayler Wellborn, Taylor, Rachael and Jordyn Bringer, and Mason Kirchner; two brothers, Howard (Sandie) Kirchner of Canton, MO, Harold (Mary Jo) Kirchner of Downing, MO; three sisters, Isabelle (Jim) Hansen of Rock Island, IL, Virginia Collins of Spring Valley, IL, and Lucille Hungate of Galesburg, IL; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Emily (Bob) Jones of Ewing, MO and Coos Collins of North Bend, WA; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy, on August 26, 2006; a son, Carl; one daughter, Cathy Hunziker; and brothers-in-law, Charles and Wayne Collins and Bill Hungate.

Clarence was a life-long member of the Shrine of St. Patrick and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He spent his life as a proud resident of St. Patrick, graduating from St. Patrick High School and instilling in his family a love for their special heritage. Their lives were spent around family, the church and festivities, and even today they all return home for St. Patrick’s Day and the 4th of July. For forty-three years Clarence was in charge of the greased pig contest.

He was a grain and livestock farmer and took pride in the stewardship of the land he was entrusted with. In earlier years he loved riding horses and had raised a show horse. He also enjoyed hunting coyote and raising hunting dogs. Visiting with family and friends was one of his greatest forms of enjoyment.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Patrick, St. Patrick, MO with Father James Wheeler officiant.

Burial will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Monday with family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary and also by a Prayer Service led by Kristin Roth.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Patrick Cemetery.
