Carol Doris Appleget(Cook) was born to John W. and Clara "Perl" Cook October 12, 1923 at their farm east of Delta. Carol attended grade school in Delta and taught school in a one room school house to 7 pupils in 4 grades after graduating from Sigourney High School and receiving her teaching certificate. She married Wilmer Appleget in June 1943 and born to them were two sons Jerrol Wayne and Edward Lynn. Wilmer was killed December 9, 1946 in a farming accident and their third son, Steven James was born six weeks after his father's death. On November 23, 1947 Carol married Charles Fremont Appleget and after living on the family farm for several years, moved to Hayesville, IA where Chuck opened Appleget Welding and Repair. Over the years, two daughters, Marcia Sue and Penney Elaine, were born to complete the family. In 1958 Chuck moved his family to Phoenix, AZ with a dream of a better life for them all. Carol spent the majority of her life as a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, country music, reading, travel, sewing(with many heirloom bride dresses, formals and ruffly dresses that spin to her credit)friends and family. She was an extraordinary cook and her donuts are legendary. She was loved and admired by all who knew her. Her ability to keep her positive attitude and persevere over any obstacle without a complaint was amazing.

Carol was preceded in death by her first husband Wilmer, her husband Charles and her eldest son Jerrol as well as both of her parents, two sisters(Ruth and Wanda)and two brothers(Dick and Fitz). She is survived by her sisters, Clarice Colbert of Hayesville, IA, Joann Pitsch of Sigourney, IA, one brother John Cook of Phoenix, AZ, four children: Edward of Glendale, AZ, Steven of Phoenix, AZ, Marcia Calcaterra of Lilburn, GA and Penney Snobl of Central City, IA, twelve grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren with two additional great grandchildren expected in 2015. She will be deeply missed and our memories of her will be cherished forever.

Graveside service-11:30 am Saturday, December 10, 2015 at the Pennington Cemetery South of Sigourney. There will be a lunch served at the St. Mary Parish Center, following the service.
