Alice Sue (Hughes) Halley was born on August 3, 1929 in Marion, Crittenden County, Kentucky, the daughter of Clarence "Rush" Hughes (1886–1964) and Lena (Yates) Hughes (1889–1968).
She was married as the 2nd wife of Thomas Vaughn Halley (1914–1995) sometime after World War II, and he was the son of George Chesterfield Halley (1876–1945) and his wife Jessie Bell (Vaughn) Halley (1879–1970). {Thomas Vaughn Halley had been married 1st on September 17, 1938 in Pottaswatomie County, Oklahoma to Barbara Lee Wilson (7 Jan 1921–Dec 1987), and again on March 11, 1942 they renewed their vows! However, within a few years they were divorced.}
A retired medical transcriptionist and member of New Providence United Methodist Church, Alice was living in Clarksville, Montgomery County, Tennessee and was 85 years old and a widow when she died at Gateway Medical Center on January 7, 2015.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sons Michael Vaughn Halley and Paul Hughes Halley and by her sisters Helen (Hughes) Hodge and Martha (Hughes) Boitnott, she was survived by a married son, a daughter, eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two 2nd-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville.
