Funeral services for Alberta Balmer, 100 of Aledo, will be Tuesday at 1:30 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Animal Shelter or the Churches of Mercer County Food Pantry.

Alberta died on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo.

Alberta Pearl was born on September 14, 1914 in Smithshire, Illinois to Charlie & Hazel (Dean) McClain. She married Carl Balmer in 1939. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1966.

Alberta was a cook for the Roosevelt Military Academy and also worked in the Bakery at Jack & Jill Grocery, Aledo. She was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church; Sunshine Circle and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader, especially with her devotions and bible. She cherished the time spent with family and was a devoted mother and granny.

Alberta is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Sharon & Chuck Geyer and Barbara Thompson, all of Aledo: 9 grandchildren: Cheri (Ron) Figg; Mark (Terri) Richardson; Connie Clayton; Kim (Jeff) Christianson; Kris Koch; Brad Bivens; Karla (Barry) Cooper; David (Patti) Sanders; Doug (Heather) Sanders and granddaughter-in-law, Kathy Richardson; 19 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and one lovingly expected in August. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Roberta Bivens; grandson, Jimmy Richardson; great-grandson, Blaine Richardson and 3 sisters, Hazel Roundtree, Elveree Coursey and Alta Swan.
