The graveside service for Leo Batchelder, 96 year-old Enid resident will be 10:00 AM Monday, August 5, 2013 in the Memorial Park Garden Chapel. The Rev. Alan Seibel will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Leo was born to William I. and Opal Mae (Phares) Batchelder and died in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1935. He entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1941 and served throughout WWII. One September 9, 1944 he married Mary Parker in Houston, Texas. After the war he returned to Enid where he began working with Charlie Knox building service stations. He stayed on as a construction supervisor after the merger with Kerr-McGee. He retired in 1981.
He was a long time member of Davis Park Christian Church. He loved to fish and travel , As a younger man,he and his brother rode their bicycles to Central America, making it almost all the way to Panama Canal.
He is survived by his wife Mary, his son Michael, and his daughter Sharon, all of the home. One brother, Kenneth Batchelder, of Enid, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
