Alfred M. Paper, 72, of Durant, died Wednesday, July 13, 1977, at Dean Bassett Implement Company in Davenport after an apparent heart attack.

Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, July 15, at Runge Mortuary in Davenport. A memorial fund has been established.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 16, at Runge Mortuary in Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, Iowa.

Alfred Max Paper was born March 17, 1905, in Muscatine County, the son of Friedrich and Martha (Petersen) Paper. He married Edna Louise Illian on January 16, 1929, in Davenport. They farmed in the Muscatine County area, until they retired and moved to Durant in 1963. He was active in skat circles.

Surviving are his wife, Edna; three sons, Elmer (Loretta) Paper, Virgil (Marilyn) Paper and Kenneth Paper, all of Stockton; 13 grandchildren; and one sister, Frieda (Edwin) Schroeder of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
