Dennis was the son of Everett and Esther Pitcher Gantley, born in Fulton he was a life resident of the area. Educated in local schools; he was a self employed logger and owned Black Creek Lumber in Fulton for 50 years. He was married to his wife, Merry, for 53 years, and they had four children. He loved his family, children and grandchildren.

He was a licensed pilot, and took great enjoyment and pride in flying his small plane. Denny also loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed the outdoors. Travel was also something he did extensively, and enjoyed.
