Asheville – Edgbert Ulus “Ed” Redmon, Jr., 78, entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 4, 2015.

A native and resident most of his life of Buncombe County, he retired in 1998 from Public Service Company of NC where he served for 38 years. From 1998 to 2010, he owned and operated Redmon Services.

Mr. Redmon attended Woodfin Elementary School and was a 1954 graduate of Princess Ann High School in Virginia Beach, VA; was a member of Erwin Hills Lion Club where he served as former President; was a former member of Erwin Hills Optimist Club and past Board Member of the Erwin Hills Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also a member of the American Gas Association and Auxiliary member of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a member and Deacon of West Asheville Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Redmon loved visiting his granddaughters and their families and enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and the beach.

Mr. Redmon was the son of the late Edgbert Ulus Redmon and Elsie Austin Redmon. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John and Glen Redmon and sister, Barbara Shook.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Hattie Mae Fox Redmon of the home; daughter, Cheryl Redmon Jones and husband Butch of Winter Springs, FL; granddaughters, Ashley Jones Little and husband Tyler of Trussville, AL and Baily Jones Bailey and husband Sheldon of Mooresville, NC; great grandsons, Grayson and Connor Little and Cooper Bailey to arrive in June; special sister-in-law, Faye Hawkins; several nieces and nephews, including, Kaye Thornton and husband Chuck and Emily Thornton and Chris McKenzie.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen and Rev. Tony Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with military honors conducted by the NC National Guard.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
