Arthur Feldman, beloved husband and father, passed away at home in Denver at 83 years old. Arthur was born on April 6, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Samuel and Sadie Feldman. He married Lee Gallup in 1953. Arthur received his Bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and his Master's degree and PhD from the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana, all in Civil Engineering, in the early 1950s. He also taught at the University of Illinois as an Assistant Professor. He, Lee and their baby daughter, Amy, moved to Denver in 1961 when he was offered an Associate Professorship at the University of Denver in the Engineering Department. After teaching at DU, he went to work for Martin Marietta (now Lockheed Martin) retiring in 1999, after 36 years with the company. Art's work included designing and building the lunar drill stems used during the Apollo moon missions for the NASA space program. He has displays at the Smithsonian Institution Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., and the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Art was published in engineering magazines and was a member of a number of Engineering Societies including the American Society of Civil Engineers where he held an honorary membership, Society of Experimental Mechanics, Sigma Xi where he was elected to the membership and Tau Beta Pi.Arthur loved classical music and was an accomplished violin player. He played in many community symphonies in St. Louis, Champaign/Urbana and finally Denver. He has been a member of the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra for over 15 years and served on the orchestra board. Art played their most recent concert in November 2014 and was a featured soloist a number of times in the past. Arthur Feldman is survived by his wife, Lee Gallup Feldman; daughter, Amy Feldman; granddaughters, Michaela and Arielle Finkelstein; all of Denver, CO; sister Jean Dubman, brother-in-law, Allan Gallup (Ruth) of St. Louis, MO and many nieces and nephews.
