While working for the railroad, Richard also owned and operated a small beef farm in Albion. Richard enjoyed wood working, hunting and golfing. He also coached youth baseball in Albion.
Richard moved to Colorado where he owned an small business "Artful Mish Mash" and had a couple of patented picture frames. He was a graduate of Colorado College.
Richard is survived by his wife, his four sons, and two daughters. He is also survived by two brothers, two sisters, and fourteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister: Charlotte Iversen.
