John Mack Abernathy, 82, of Waco, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 2, 2015. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 5, at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. A graveside memorial service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, in Waco Memorial Park.

John was born in Gustine, Texas, to the late Clyde and Myrtle Abernathy. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. While stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, he met his future wife, Gloria, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. John and Gloria were married on October 9, 1954, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. John worked for Owens-Illinois as a master electrician and retired after 37 years of service. He was also a member of the Karem Shriners 4-Wheelers. John loved to spend time at his lake house in Whitney, Texas and also loved to hunt and fish.

He was preceded in death by his a daughter, Debora; and his siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria; daughters: Joyce, Janice, and Dianna; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
