Services for Rafaela Barrera Ramon, 74, of Leon, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 12, at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel, Wilson, with the Rev. Jimmy May officiating. Interment was in the Leon Cemetery.

Born October 24, 1930, in Paint Rock, Texas, the daughter of Bonificio Barrera and Dominga Pena, she died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.

She grew up in Rotan, Texas. She and Manuel Cantu Ramon were married January 23, 1948, in Aspermont, Texas. He preceded her in death May 29, 2003. After marriage, the couple remained in Rotan until moving to Leon in 1966. Mrs. Ramon was a devoted homemaker and was of the Catholic faith, belonging to the Rotan Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Josie and Gary Powell of Wilson and Elsa and Jeff Reece of Greenville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Carlos and Barbara Ramon of Lone Grove, Arnie and Georgia Ann Ramon of Ringling, Adolfo and Debbie Ramon of Burneyville, and Terry and Trista Ramon of Healdton; a brother and sister-in-law, Ismael and Susie Barrera of Rotan; nine grandchildren, Terry, Brian, Erik, Blake, Ben and Evan Ramon, James Powell, Steven Reece and Julie Shankles; and six great-grandchildren, Tara, Laney, Cy, Dawson and Jackson Ramon and Aaron Tidwell.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; a brother; and a grandson, Bobby Tidwell.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Terry Ramon, Brian Ramon, Eric Ramon, Blake Ramon, James Powell, Ben Ramon, Evan Ramon and Steven Reece. Honorary pallbearers were Alfonso Ramon, Sonny Hartman, Larry Wolfe and Tony Ramon.
