Norman Canterbury of Little Rock, passed away suddenly from a suspected heart attack, on December 31, 2014.

He was 75. Norman was born on May 20, 1939 in Magnolia, Arkansas, the youngest child of Frank and Myrl (Scogin) Canterbury. After graduating from high school in Magnolia in 1957, he attended Southern State College (now Southern Arkansas University) and finished pharmacy school at the University of Arkansas School of Pharmacy in Little Rock in 1962.
Norman and his wife, Kaye (McCullough) Canterbury made their home for the next 23 years in Magnolia. They raised two children, Clark Canterbury and Wendy (Canterbury) Price, who are residents of Magnolia.

Norman was the co-owner of the College Pharmacy and the Gift Gallery, in Magnolia. While in Magnolia, he was involved heavily in the Arkansas Pharmacy Association. He was a champion for the “Independent Pharmacist.” In 1985 he moved to Little Rock, to become Executive Vice President of the Arkansas Pharmacy Association where he served for 10 years. Norman went to work for Arkansas Blue Cross/Blue Shield in 1994, where he served as the Executive Vice President of Pharmacy until his retirement in 2009. Norman also served as past president of the State Board of Pharmacy, and was involved in many other local and national pharmacy associations.

A patriot to his country, Norman attained the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of 16, and served his country in the Arkansas Army National guard, receiving his honorable discharge as a captain on December 21, 1972.

Other than the love of his life, Kaye, and his children and grandchildren, Norman loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, serving Him daily. Anyone who came in contact with Norman knew that he loved the Lord. A deacon and active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock for almost 30 years, Norman taught Sunday School, and visited inmates, leading them in bible studies, at the Pulaski County Jail and at the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He was a biblical scholar.

Norman was an avid gardener, who loved being outside, and working in his yard. He was outside in his yard, working in his garden, when the Lord called him home.

Norman is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kaye Canterbury of Little Rock, his son, Clark Canterbury (Marsha), and daughter, Wendy (Canterbury) Price (David), of Magnolia, grandsons Luke Canterbury, Jacob Price and Nicholas Price of Magnolia, a brother, Hugh Canterbury of Atlanta, Ga., a sister, Martha Ellis of Longview, TX, a sister in law, Lynn McCullough of Little Rock, and a slew of nephews, nieces and countless friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 5, 2015 at Immanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock at 10:00 a.m., with graveside services and burial in Magnolia, at the Memorial Park Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home in Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you would please make contributions to the library fund at Immanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock.
