Phyllis Hovey passed away on December 27, 2014, quietly in her home with her family around her.

She was born on August 28, 1930 to Clarence and Irene Pamp in Omaha, NE. When she was two years old she was adopted by Ted and Emma Dawson Simpson and raised in Layton, Utah.

She graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah and attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where she met her husband, Harold Hovey.

Phyllis married Harold Alton Hovey in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on September 14, 1949. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Together they have four children. Phyllis was an active member of the Highland Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved working with the youth. She taught early morning Seminary, Primary, and Sunday School. Her favorite calling was Young Women's President, where she was known to have exciting lessons.

Phyllis enjoyed working with the public and co-founded a wholesale business in Hawaii and was the manager of Hello Kitty at the Ogden Mall and owner of Trenz, a gift and novelty chain of four stores in Utah, where she employed most of her grandchildren.

After retiring, she enjoyed traveling in their motor home with Harold. They visited family and traveled to most of the states. She loved spending winters in Yuma, AZ where they enjoyed time with friends and relatives.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, four children, Frank (Diane), Kim, Scott (Joelyn), and Brian. She has 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
