Ruby Andrews McGee, 93, of Lenoir, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2006, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born Sept. 16, 1912, in Wilkes County to the late N.C. Andrews and Ollie Earp Andrews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy M. McGee; and a brother, John Andrews. Mrs. McGee was a homemaker and avid gardener. She was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Betty Teem Gill (Ron) of Banner Elk and Theresa "Pat" McGee and Mrs. Jean M. Benfield (Bill) of Lenoir; two sisters, Edna A. Weston and Gozelle Hamm, both of Boomer; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 16, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in Pendry's Chapel, with the Revs. Brian Ayers and Bert Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Teem, David Teem, Scott Benfield, Brian Benfield, Bill Benfield and Roger Reid.
