Ella Rahlfs was born on September 24, 1910 on the family farm north of Kennard, Nebraska to Henry and Johanna (Hansen) Jensen. She was baptized and confirmed at the Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard. She attended the Brewster school southwest of Blair. She married Roy Rahlfs November 18, 1933 at her home near Kennard. They moved to a farm in the Orum area, where they lived and farmed for 60 years. They joined the Orum Lutheran church where their children were baptized and confirmed. In later years they joined the First Lutheran Church in Blair, where Ella was a member of the Martha Circle for many years.
After the death of her husband in 1995 she remained on the farm until 2004 when she moved to Blair.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Leehy, son and daughter-in-law Mitchell and Mary Jean Rahlfs all of Blair, and son John Rahlfs of Omaha, 7 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister in law, Lola Rahlfs of Blair along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Rahlfs, her parents, son Kenneth Rahlfs and son-in-law Jim Leehy, sisters; Mable Swanson, Bertha Jacobs, brothers; Arthur, William, Leslie, Albert and Oscar Jensen, and sister-in-law Evelena Love.
Pastor Pam Ciulla conducted the service and offered words of comfort. Organist was Clare Cowing, and Duey Heffelfinger sand "The King Of Love My Shepherd Is".
The congregation sand "Children of the Heavenly Father", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Till We Meet Again". Pallbearers were Don Leehy, Bob Leehy, Bill Leehy, Tom Rahlfs, Doug Koster, Gary Rasmsussen.
Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Community or First Lutheran Church in Blair.
