The Idaho Springs Siftings-News. Idaho Spring, Colorado, Fri. Feb. 25, 1916.
Margaret Elizabeth Morris, daughter of James and Harriet Morris, was born in Rochester, N.Y. March 31, 1828, and departed this life Monday night, Jan. 24, having reached the age of 87 years, nine months and 24 days.
When she was but a small child she was brought across the country in a wagon to Goshen, Ind., where she lived with the family of William Norton. At the age of eleven years she was converted in a Methodist class meeting and under the ministry of the Rev. Alonson Monson. On May the 17th, 1849, she was married to the Rev. Joseph Reeder Albright of Goshen, Ind. To this union were born three daughters; Harriet Isabel Flanegan, who died on the 25th of April, 1910; Mary Elizabeth Evans, who died in Denver, Colo. September 11th, 1887; and Martha Ella Stevens of New Carlisle, on whom rested the entire responsibility of caring for the aged mother who has been practically helpless for more than ten years.
Mrs. Albright came with her husband and children to New Carlisle on March 11th, 1862, and for some time Mr. Albright was a lecturer on Physiology and Materia Medica in the Carlisle Collegiate Institute. He was also a member of the Rock River Conference of the Methodist Episcopal church in Illinois. In August 1862 he enlisted as a chaplain of the 87th Regiment of Indiana Volunteers. He died while serving his country at Gallitan, Tenn., on the 7th of December, 1862.
Through the death of Mrs. Albright New Carlisle loses one of its oldest residents, she having lived here for more than half a century. In her departure we are again reminded that the young people may die and that the old must. We commend her soul to the care and keeping of the Almighty Father who doeth all things well.
