Carlyle H. Baker Jr.
CHESNEE--Carlyle H. "Carl" Baker Jr., 79, died March 29, 1999, in Mary Black Memorial Hospital.
A native of Columbia, he was son of the late Carlyle and Lillamae Bonnett Baker. He was a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Evening Sunday school class. He was a member of Promise Keepers, a writer and a photographer. He was the photographer for the Chesnee Garden Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Airborne Division.
Surviving are heis wife, Nanie Blackwell Baker; two daughters, Bonnie Manning of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lynn Talley of Charleston, W.Va.; a son, Carlyle H. Baker III of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter Patricia Nichols Grant of Chesnee; two brothers, Bruce N. Baker and John C, Baker, both of Columbia; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Chesnee.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Chesnee First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Troy Gregg. Burial will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
