A native of Paint Lick, KY, he was the son of the late James S Day II and Florence Ballard Day. Mr. Day was a local businessman and owned and operated Day’s Moving & Storage for over 40 years, Agents of Atlas Van Lines. He had agencys in Richmond, Lexington, Berea and Bowling Green, Ky. He also owned Day’s Auction Co and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Rotary Int. He served as a VP for Kentucky House Hold Goods Carriers Association. He also was a member of the Kentucky Walking Horse Association and was a member of the TWHBEA and was a member of First Baptist Church of Richmond.
He is survived by two daughters, Judith Walker (Dean)of Greenwood, IN and Margaret Black of Lexington, KY; one son, Sammy Day (Cindy) of Shelbyville, TN, two brothers, Raymond Day of Richmond and Louis Day of Nicholasville; six grandchildren, Jason, Seth and Jessica Day, Danny Black, Deborah Oakley and Dean Walker, Jr. and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Don Black, four sisters, Teresa Day, Margaret Clawson, Flora May Day and Pearly Day, and four brothers, Bill, Virgil, Russell and Jake Day.
