Bessie A. (Nielson) Harrison, passed away on December 26, 2014 in Everett, Wash. Bessie was born on March 21, 1929 in Deer Park, Wash. She was a long standing member of the Madison Community Church. She was active with the Everett School District PTA while her children were attending school. She received the Golden Acorn award from the Everett School District for her volunteer work. Bessie volunteered with many community organizations including the Camp Fire Girls, Snohomish County Blood Bank and Everett Library Bookmobile. She was always willing to help support neighborhood or school programs. In the mid-1990's, she was elected to serve on Everett's Council of Neighborhoods representing the Pinehurst-Beverly Park area. In this capacity, she helped organize the annual Monte Cristo awards. She loved to help prepare the Pinehurst Trolley for Everett's 4th of July parade and walking alongside it waving her flag. She always remembered everyone's birthday, anniversary and special events. Bessie, a special mother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor, always with a warm smile, and a wave. Bessie is preceded in death by husband, Richard; son, John; brothers, Richard, Walter and Norman. She is survived by daughters, Beverly, Barbara, Joanne and Julie, along with their spouses; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Robert; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express our heart-felt thanks to Sunrise View Convalescent Center Staff for their loving care of our mom. Purdy and Walters with Cassidy (purdy-walters-cassidy.com ) will be handling the funeral arrangements. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 3, 2015 at Purdy and Walters with Cassidy, 1702 Pacific Avenue in Everett. A private graveside burial will be held at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park.
