This baby, known as Russell, was the first born child of John Samuel and Anna Gannon Edwards.
His date of birth is recorded by his mother in 1914 on the reverse of the photo shown at right. It is fortuitous that this photo and its notations on its reverse exists as the Kansas State Vital Records office had no record of his birth when I applied for his Birth Certificate in 2012.
The month I am using for his death is estimated as there is no family record of the date of his death, nor did the Kansas Vital Records office have a Death Certificate for him.
My first indication that Russell existed was the appearance of his name, Russell Edwards, on an Edwards Family Tree typed by a paternal Aunt. Beside the name is the statement "Died of spinal meningitis as an infant".
Russell was the older brother of my father, Frank Edwards, and his brothers and sisters, and therefore would be my uncle.
