Mrs. Nell R. Matheny, 99, of Notasulga, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014, at EAMC in Opelika following a brief illness. Mrs. Matheny was born in Macon County on June 17, 1915, to the late Bennie and Cora Rowell. Mrs. Matheny was a faithful member of the Woodland Presbyterian Church and played the piano for the church for 81 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and dedicated her time to her family members. She was a people person, had a great outlook on life and enjoyed playing games with her friends at the Nutrition Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Autry Matheny; two daughters Judie (Larry) May and Patricia M. (Curt) Dooley; two sisters Wytol R. Pattillo and Regina R. Butler; her brother R.E. Rowell; and her great grand daughter Haley Baughman. She is survived by her daughter Rita M. (Tommy) Whitman of Lake Martin; her granddaughters Gina M. (Andy) Gantt of Tallassee, Felicia W. (Todd) Flurry of Dadeville and Lisa G. (Tommy) Mento; her grandsons T. Allen (Jennie) Whitman of Birmingham, and Autry L. (Kim) May of Tallassee; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
