Carrol Stephen Boggan, 74, a retired Anatone rancher-farmer, died Friday at 12:05 a.m. of pneumonia at Clarkston. Boggan was born July 4, 1903, in Anatone, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Boggan. From the date of his birth until October of 1976, Boggan lived on and worked the 5,000 acre family farm and pastureland. He graduated from Anatone High School in 1921 and attended Washington State College in Pullman. He married Jeanette Smith at Asotin, April 12, 1934. In 1976 Boggan moved to 2204 Schaeffer Drive in Clarkston. He served on the Clearwater Power Company board of directors for 12 years before tendering his resignation in 1973 because of ill health. Boggan was a member of the Washington Cattlemen's Association and the Asotin and Washington State Wheat Growers associations. He served on the Anatone School Board for several years and is a past member of the Grange. Boggan was also a former Asotin County commissioner, a former Rural Electrification Association director and a member of the Lewiston Elks.
Survivors include his widow at the home in Clarkston, two sons; Jerry C. Boggan of Bellevue, Wash., and Clyde Boggan of Anatone. two daughters; Jan Botts of Anatone and Toni Rundquist of Spokane and five grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Merchant Funeral Home, Clarkston, with the Rev. Dennis Degener of the Asotin and Anatone United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Vineland Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Anatone Community Hall.
