Wilson C. "Willis" Cantrell was the son of Elijah Cantrell and Sarah Nancy Cantrell. He md. Sarah Jane Jerome. Sarah Jane Jerome's first husband was Reuben Cantrell b Sept. 15, 1826.. The children of Sarah Jane and Willis Cantrell were William E. Cantrell md1 Kittie M. Starbuck bur Buchanan Cem, Dade Co, MO, md2 Jennie A. Peddicord bur Buchanan Cem, Dade Co, MO; Marion S. Cantrell b May 14 1868 bur Buchanan Cem, Dade Co, MO md Ida Matilda Northington; Sarah A. Cantrell b 1871∼Wilson C. was son of Elijah & Sarah Nancy Cantrell, who were born in South Carolina. Some of his siblings were; Benjamin, Hyam, LaFayette, Rufus L. and Mary Ann.
He married on 21 Jan 1837 to Sarah Jane Jerome in Dade, Missouri.
They had at least three children; Willis E., Marion S. and Sarah A.

He served as a Private in I Company, 15th Regiment, Missouri Calvary in the Civil War.
