Juan met Joyce Bethel after her family moved to Florida. They were married and in 1971 they moved to Mason County where Joyce had been raised. Juan had several different jobs in Florida, but after moving to Texas he focused on automobile repair work. After working for someone else for many years, he and a friend were partners in J & K automotive for 15 years. After that, he then went in to partnership with his son Allen and they owned and operated J & A Automotive for 13 years.

Juan had the love of Christ in his heart and he was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He dedicated his time to help minister to those in jail and he was active in activities to help support the Mason County Cancer Benefit. Juan was known to be an honest and fair man who was loyal to his family and friends. He was also active in the Masonic Lodge and served as “Grand Master” for many years. Juan loved to garden and cook and really enjoyed making different kinds of jellies. Even with his health not being good, Juan was still able to have a garden this year. Juan also loved music and liked to play the guitar.
