Arene Makison-Holt 81 of the Ranier Roost in Ranier Minnesota died Friday, April 15, 2005. Arene was born on December 18, 1923 in Drayton, North Dakota. In her younger years Arene enjoyed gardening and fishing while living on Rainy Lake. She liked card games especially Bridge and Cribbage. She also enjoyed working cross word puzzles. She was an active member of St. Thomas Parish and the VFW when she resided in International Falls. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Sierra Vista Arizona.
She is preceded in death by parents John & Josephine Rasmussen. Her husband of 42 years Emil Makidon, husband of 5 years Archie Holt; daughter Susan Bibeau and 13 brothers and sisters. Arene is survived by her husband Marvin Merritt of Arizona; son Charles (Debi) Makidon of St. Paul, Mn.; daughters Diane (David) Peters of International Falls and Carol (Terry) Ohlund of Grand Rapids, Mn., Step children: Ronald Holt, Steven (Bernetta) Holt, Robert (Sandi) Holt, Bill (Rita Joe) Merritt, Jim (Cheri) Merritt, & Cathy Simon. Also four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2005 from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the Green-Larsen Mortuary. Mass of the Resurrection will be on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Alexandria, Mn.
