Virginia Vanderpool, 76, of Green River died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs after a brief illness.

She was a former resident of Missouri and Rock Springs. She was born September 8, 1938 in Webb City, Missouri, the daughter of Perl Ager and Helen Cook Ager. She graduated from Rock Springs High School with the class of 1957. She also had attended school at the University of Wyoming.
She married Wilbur “Jim” Vanderpool November 24, 1957 in Rock Springs. He preceded her in death January 8, 2007.

She had been employed at Mr. Dee’s, City Market, the school district as a crossing guard, the Drivers License Bureau, and the Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service until her retirement in 2007.

She was a 52 year member of Mystic Chapter 8 of the Eastern Star in Green River, Good Sam’s Club, and the Fire Hole Gang. She was also a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion in Rock Springs.

Her interests were square dancing, singing, and playing cards at the senior center.

Survivors include two sons, Clifford A. Vanderpool and wife Tara of Green River, and Stephen Vanderpool and wife Sammie of Salt Lake City; daughter Joanne Conroy and husband Charles of Green River; sister Nancy Hardman of Rock Springs; grandchildren Joe Conroy of Salt Lake City, Laura Kofidza and husband Gabriel of Rock Springs, Jaquimarie, Kelsi, Greggory and Alexandra Vanderpool of Green River, Davianne Vanderpool of Laramie; great-grandchildren Akila Kofidza and McKenzie Vanderpool; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilbur Vanderpool, son David Vanderpool, grandson Morgan Vanderpool, brothers James Allen, Nessel and Michael Eugene Ager.
