The son of Daniel & Hannah (Silks) Liddick and stepson of Catherine Silks Liddick, in 1860 he was a farmer living in Buffalo Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania. He stood 5' 7" tall and had brown hair and gray eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Duncannon, Perry County, September 27, 1861, and mustered into federal service at Harrisburg October 3 as a private with Co. A, 9th Pennsylvania Cavalry (92nd Pa). He re-enlisted as a Veteran Volunteer January 1, 1864, at Mossy Creek, Tennessee, and honorably discharged with his company July 18, 1865.

He married 1st: Martha Keesbury about 1865-1866 (based on age of first born) 6 kids, that I know of, were born to this marriage; Grant, Susan, Harriet, Carrie, Edward and John. William and Martha divorced.

He married 2nd: Malinda K. Brichner 14 Feb 1900 Newport, Perry Co., Pennsylvania. No children were born to this marriage.

In the 1910 Census, William is living with his son, Edward and says he is widowed but, he was divorced. Malinda remarried to Edward Boring.

Cause of death is listed as "apoplexy." (Stroke or Cerebral Hemorrhage).
