Found in The State 17 February 1960: Mrs. Sally Elizabeth Crouch, 83, of 828 Dreher Road, West Columbia, died at 11:15 yesterday morning at her home, following an illness of several months. Mrs. Crouch was born July 30, 1876 in Richmond County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late M. M. Hill and Jane Oswald Hill. She had made her home in Columbia and West Columbia the major part of her life and was a charter member of the Church of God on Elmwood Avenue. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. G. E. Outlaw and Mrs. Annie Timmons, both of West Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Marinda Bennett, Columbia; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Louise Shull, Mrs. Alice Vining, Millard Timmons, Horace Timmons, Earl Outlaw, L. T. Outlaw and Paul Outlaw, all of West Columbia; 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Church of God on Elmwood Avenue, conducted by the Rev. L. C. Caldwell, the Rev. J. D. Simmons, the Rev. James G. Jennings and the Rev. Lonnie Shull, Jr. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The body will be carried from the Thompson Funeral Home to the church at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Active pallbearers will be: Allen Birchmore, E. J. Birchmore, Lee Graham, Floyd Hagood, Milton Wingate and Willie McKnight. Honorary pallbearers will be: the Rev. Bill Cloer, the Rev. Bobby Ross, the Rev. Mr. Dunlap, Rufus Sturkie, Walter Coward, T. R. Swygert, H. O. Shull, Charlie Sturkie, Lonnie Ellisor, and members of the Church Council of the Church of God. Pallbearers will meet at 3:50 at the church.
