Obituary for Bertram "Scotty" Clark
Bertram V. “Scotty” Clark, 79, of Sumner, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the United Church of Sumner with Reverend Ken Hutson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sumner City Cemetery with military honors conducted by Navy Honors team in conjunction with the American Legion Post 41. Visitation will be held from 5-7, Monday, at the church in Sumner. Memorials are suggested to the United Church of Sumner. Online condolences may be submitted to www.osrfh.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.


Bertram was born March 26, 1935 in Rural Lexington, NE to William “Bill” and Sarrah E. (Mowry) Clark. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1952. He joined the Navy in June of 1952 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He married Carolyn Cramer on October 19, 1958. He attended Kearney State College and graduated with a BA in 1959, and later a Master’s degree in 1969. He taught High School English at Mullen, NE from 1959-1961; and at S.E.M. High School until 1979 where he was an English teacher, guidance counselor and later principal. He truly loved literature, and enjoyed reading his entire life. He was a farmer and rancher from 1961 to the present and loved it. He was a member of the Baptist Church and now as a member of the combined United Church of Sumner, he served as a trustee and attended regularly. He served on various local boards and on the S.E.M. school board.

He is survived by his wife of Sumner; daughter, Crystal Glatter and husband Matt; brother, Roy Clark of Lexington; granddaughters, Sydney Kay and Sarah Marie.

He is preceded in death by both parents; four brothers and 1 sister.
