Mary Catherine Bertsch Diamond Harpold, 81, of Tawas City, Michigan, passed away peacefully at
home on December 18, 2014. Mary was born to Margaret Krumm Bertsch and Franz (Frank) Bertsch on October 12, 1933.
After graduating from Tawas City High School in 1951, she attended Saginaw General Hospital of
Nursing, where she graduated in 1954 as a registered nurse. She retired from nursing in Miami, Florida,
moved back to Tawas City and became the Director of Nursing at Lakeview Retirement Home. Mary
loved being a nurse and dedicated her life to providing comfort and healing to her patients. She was
a lifetime member of Emanuel Lutheran church as well as a Iosco County Historical Museum board
member. She proudly opened her home for many years during the holidays for the annual Christmas
Walk.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband John Harpold, her beloved son Todd, her parents and
brother Richard Bertsch.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Jon Jae Diamond (Carol Lynn), granddaughters Sara Beth Sextone
(Mike) and Alexis Joy Odell.
Mary was a loving person with a quick wit, loved to laugh, and had an amazing zest for life even in her final days. Mary was
deeply loved by her family and friends and will be sorely missed.

family for their loving support and many kindnesses extended during her illness.
