William Leslie Biggs, Sr., 63, of Route 2, Neillsville died September 30 at his home following a heart attack. He had been ill with a heart ailment for several years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday evening at the Bergemann Funeral home. The body is being taken today (Thursday) to West Allis where services will be held Friday afternoon from Luther Memorial Church. The Rev. Adolph Kappes will officiate, and burial will be made in Good Hope Cemetery, Milwaukee.
Mr. Biggs was born September 28, 1894, in Lumberton, N. C. He received his early education there and worked there until 1918, when he entered the Marine Corps at Parris Island, S. C. He served as a private in the 31st Company of the 4th Regiment. He received his discharge on December 19, 1919, at Philadelphia, Pa. Following his discharge he was employed in Milwaukee.
On December 18, 1932, he was married to the former Laura Ehlert in Rockford, Ill. Following their marriage they operated their own restaurant in Milwaukee until 11 years ago. In 1947 they came to Clark County, settling on a farm in the Town of Hewett.He was a member of Luther Memorial Church in West Allis.
Mr. Biggs is survived by his wife and two children, William Jr., and Mary Biggs, both at home; and the following brothers and sisters: Walter Biggs, of North Carolina; James Biggs, Beaufort, N. C.; Mrs. Georgia Sipher, Fayetteville, N. C.; Mrs. Bessie Prevatte, Lumberton, N. C.; and Miss Cora Biggs of Winston-Salem, N.C.
