Services for Walter Emil Kiesewetter, 83, of Elderville will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 8, at Trinity Baptist Church in Lakeport with Dr. Gary Orr officiating. Arrangements are by Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, May 8, at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. Mr. Kiesewetter was born June 12, 1916, to Ida Dahms and Carl Kiesewetter, He was the 11th of 13 children. Mr. Kiesewetter spent his childhood in Wallis. From 1936 to 1939, Mr. Kiesewetter was in the 12th Calvary at Fort Ringold in Rio Grande City, where he was a horseshoer. Later, Mr. Kiesewetter resided in, Irving, where he was employed by Joske's ; as a warehouse foreman until his retirement in 1978. Mr. Kiesewetter was a resident of Mount Enterprise and Elderville until his death. He passed away at his home in Elderville on Saturday, May 6, after a six-month bout with lung cancer, Mr. Kiesewetter was taken care of by Hospice of Longview. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Lakeport, where he served as greeter for 15 years. Mr. Kiesewetter was dearly loved by the children for whom he carried candy in his pocket. He was known as the "Candyman." Mr. Kiesewetter was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Annabel Jordan; his parents and 10 of his siblings. He was reared from the age of 9 by his sister, Fredia Reuther, and her husband, George. Their three children who were reared as Walter's siblings still survive him. They are John Reuther of Katy, Anne Mae Korenck of Wallis and Leroy Reuther of Longview. Mr. Kiesewetter is survived by his wife of 15 years, Frances Strong Boyd Kiesewetter, her one son, James P. and his wife, Charmaine Sue of Longview.
