Robert Centner, 38, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday in a hospital in Chicago following injuries he received at 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to a telephone message received by Mrs. Sherman Buck and Mrs. Charles Kileen, his sisters. The message was incomplete, giving no details of the accident.
He was formerly employed by Illinois Central Railroad in Clinton and went to Chicago about two years ago.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday from the Baptist Church in Clinton. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow and three children, Richard and Bernard, Chicago and Guy, Decatur. There is a brother, Ben, Oakville, Ia., and three sisters, Mrs. Buck, Mrs. Kileen, Clinton and Mrs. Ruth Funk, Chicago and his mother, Mrs. Laura Kobel. (The Pantograph, Wednesday, 23 March 1938)
