Mr. Norman L. Cason, age 83, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 17, 2014.
Mr. Cason was born on July 12, 1931, in Waycross, GA, the son of the late Harvin Cason and Leona Waltor Crews Cason.
He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Infantry during the Korean Conflict. He held the rank of Corporal while in the military and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Browning Automatic Rifleman award. After serving his country, Mr. Cason was a truck driver for Terminal Transport. He loved working in his garden and enjoyed sharing his vegetables. Mr. Cason also was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved going boating, could barter with the best and basically loved piddling. He was a member of the Riverside Church of God.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cason was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Cason and two sisters, Evelyn Doeing Cason and Margaret Cason Pribble.
Mr. Cason is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Denise and D.J. McCann of Lorton, VA; two sons and daughters-in-law, David L. and Shirlene Cason of Hiram, GA, and Joel A. and Shelia Cason of Powder Springs, GA; four brothers, Joe C. Cason, James Cason, Waymond Cason and Vernon Ray Cason; eight grandchildren, Mark Cason, Angela Cason, Melissa Cason, Chelsi Nordall, Caitlyn Brown, Mark Bentley, Cynthia Pierce and Angela Moody; eight great-grandchildren, Gabriel Cason, Noah Cason, Dylan Cason, Krystal Frost, Tommy Pierce, Michael Pierce, Zack Bentley and Ethan Bentley; four great-great-grandchildren, Branden Sprinkle, William Sprinkle, Braylee Bentley and Ansley Bentley. A host of nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Cason will be held in the chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Pastor Thomas Blagg officiating. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, GA.
Mr. Cason’s family will receive friends at the funeral home.
