Evelyn Vaulters-Groskruetz, 72, 1008 E. Ave. C, Bismarck, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 24, 2002, at her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Fort Yates, with lay reader Lindsy Dwarf officiating. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery, Fort Yates.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church.

Evelyn was born Nov. 5, 1930, at Bullhead, S.D., to James and Alice (Wears Horn) Vaulters. She was raised and educated in Fort Yates. She married Harold Eugene Groskruetz in 1969 at Kensal. He passed away in April 1980.

Evelyn was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her children. She was also a caregiver with a huge heart who always helped other people in their time of need.

She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Dawn and John Hanna, Longmont, Colo., and Joyce Kitson, Bismarck; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Ken and Laurie Vaulters, Alfred Vaulters and Ron Vaulters, all of Bismarck, Harold Jr. and Shirley Groskruetz, Minneapolis, and Marvin Groskruetz, Rapid City, S.D.; two sisters, Helene Russell and Laura Jean Vaulters, both of Fort Yates; one brother, Jerry Vaulters, Fort Yates; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters, Melda, Elenor and Eva Vaulters; and one brother, Marvin Vaulters.

The family prefers memorials to St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
