Peter Stevens passed away at Fergus Falls on October 23, 1936 at 10:50 o'clock in the evening, being 45 years and 13 days at the time of his death. He was born at Belgrade, Minn., Oct. 10, 1891 and came with his parents to Forada in 1903, his parents being some of the first residents of that village. His father opened the first general store in Forada. Mr. Stevens attended the Forada schools and when 15 years of age he started work for the Soo line railway, first as section hand and later as brakeman. He also worked for about five years on the railroad in Montana. In 1929 he began farming which he continued to do until the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Mabel Seward on March 22, 1920. Four children were born to this union, namely: Kenneth age 15, Donald age 12, Betty age 9, Lois age 7.
Four sister and two brothers also survive: Marie (Mrs. Wallace Palmer) of Great Falls, Mont.; Lulu (Mrs. Arthur Nelson) of Montevideo; Mrs. Esther McCumber of Sparta, Wis.; Ruth (Mrs. Julius Linser) of Garfield, Minn.; Gottlieb of Farwell and Evan of Great Falls, Mont.
Mr. Stevens served his country during the World war, being honorably discharged on January 20, 1919.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 27 at 2 o'clock from the Presbyterian church at Forada; Rev. Uptoni officiating. Interment was in the Union Lake cemetery. The Alexandria Legion Post attended and he was buried with full military honors.
