LaDell Vergel (Buzz) Jessop born August 6, 1930 to Vergel Yeates Jessop and Verna Spencer Jessop at Glendale, UT, died at home December 16, 2014 after a long battle with heart disease; his wife Trudy, daughter Jenny and son-in-law Dewey at his side.

Buzz joined the U.S. Army in 1948 where he trained as a mechanic. He was stationed in Germany where he met and married his lifelong sweetheart, Gertrud (Trudy) Wendenkampf. Buzz and Trudy had one daughter, Jeanette (Jenny). Buzz worked at various mining, construction and mechanic jobs. He then worked as a mechanic at Dixie College for 22 years. He retired in 1985.

Although he enjoyed being a mechanic, his passion was prospecting and mining and he spent lots of time in the hills. He worked at the Copper Mountain and Grand Gulch mines and loved being out on the Arizona Strip and had lots of storied of his time spent there.
Buzz had many vehicles throughout his life starting with a Model A Ford, but his favorites were his Willy Jeep, fiberglass dune buggy and later his 4-wheeler. He and Trudy enjoyed rides in the hills or a Sunday drive.

Buzz thought the world of his grandkids, great-grandsons, son-in-law Dewey Wickham; his best friend and brother-in-law, Ronald Larson; and nephews, Kelly, Steve and Corey Larson who he thought of as sons. He looked forward to going to coffee at Dick’s Café and later to McDonalds to visit and tell stories with his old buddies.

Buzz is survived by his wife, Trudy; daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Dewey Wickham; grandchildren, Holly Sedgwick, Heidi (Russ) Pratt, and Dustin Wickham; great-grandsons, Garrett, Cooper, Quincy and Jett Pratt; brothers and sisters, Jenny (Ronald) Larson, Joyce (Dennis) Miller, June (Ronald) Ammerman, Carolyn (Jimmy) Ballard, Lloyd (Linda) Jessop, Glade, Sterling, Lyle, Carlos, Scott, Vergel, Leon, Nap, Royce, Reed, Steve and Troy Jessop, Janet, Marilyn, Viola and Kathleen Steed; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brother, Rena Dockstader, Arleen Bateman, Elaine Bistline and Fen Jessop; and granddaughter, Heather Wickham.

A Visitation will be Saturday, December 20, 2014 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT. Interment will follow in the St. George City Cemetery, 100 South 700 East, St. George, UT.
